In this documentary, I hope to open a space for students at the grassroots level to discuss on the direction for tertiary education under globalisation.
I started with examples of innovation in learning, teaching and applying knowledge for an exploration of a “climate change” in the nature of tertiary education. This is followed by a series of discussion among students and teachers. A wide range of topics is covered: ideals of university, teaching style, intercultural, problem of exam-oriented system, communications, general education, etc.
At the end, I posted a question for the audience as to what individual – be it student or teaher at HKU – can do.
Apart from being part of my assignment for the course POLI0081, this project is also conducted out of my interest in prmoting a paradigm shift in HKU community where there is a sense of helplessness, anonymity and alofness among students concerning the community affairs.
It is expected to have follow-up documentaries or studies to filll the gap left in this video – in which the wide focus needs to be further narrowed down.
